Amendment to the regulation on Sake labeling

The National Tax Agency issued a draft to amend certain requirements of the labeling regulations for the sake brewing process and quality (National Tax Agency Notification No. 8, dated November 22, 1989). In relation to labeling, it is proposed that the production date will be changed from mandatory to voluntary information, in accordance with Codex standards, international food standards and Japanese food labeling standards, and the display of awards granted not only by public organizations but also by private organizations will be permitted.
