The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) issued guidelines on the production, marketing, and packaging of eggs.
This document provides guidance on rules covering the production, marking, transport, grading, packing and onward marketing of eggs which are intended for human consumption. The guidance is not an authoritative nor complete statement of the law. The specific UK and EU legislation which is applicable to the production and marketing of eggs and chicks and to which you may wish to refer is listed under section ‘Inspections and enforcement’.
