Canaryseed included in the Argentine Food Code

The Secretariat of Health Management and the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries have published Joint Resolution 32/2025 which amends the Argentine Food Code to include canaryseed in Article 660 Article 660 bis of Chapter IX: Farinaceous Foods - Cereals. Canaryseed means healthy, clean and well preserved grains of the species Phalaris canariensis L., in its varieties of brown canaryseed (CDC Maria, CDC Togo, CDC Bastia, CDC Calvi) and yellow canaryseed (CDC Cibo) and those varieties that demonstrate that they do not have silica fibers (trichomes or hairs) by appropriate technological treatment that remove them or by being a variety genetically free of these.
