Food Safety Agency has revised the hygienic standards and regulations pertaining to natural mineral water

Azerbaijan

Jun 16, 2025

The Board of the Food Safety Agency has released the "Standards and Sanitary Regulations for Natural Mineral Waters." These standards establish the minimum indicators for quality and safety (physicochemical properties, microbiological indicators), packaging, labeling, and distribution of natural mineral waters sourced from underground mineral water bodies within the territory of the republic and intended for human consumption, as well as the minimum indicators for quality and safety, labeling, and distribution of imported natural mineral waters that have been registered as such by the authorized body of the country of origin. The aforementioned requirements do not apply to waters with natural healing properties, used for therapeutic purposes in water bodies and identified as mineral waters for medical purposes, nor to those used for irrigation. The document also addresses issues related to the permitted cleaning methods for natural mineral waters, the composition of natural mineral water during labeling, and warnings regarding the cleaning method applied.
