New Zealand Food Safety releases health star rating results from new consumer survey

A new survey by New Zealand Food Safety highlights that 83% of consumers use the Health Star Rating (HSR) system when purchasing packaged food or drinks for the first time. The Consumer Food Safety Insights Survey reports that 61% of these consumers use the front-of-pack labelling system at least half the time, while 22% use it occasionally. New Zealand Food Safety deputy director-general Vincent Arbuckle praised the findings, emphasizing the high consumer trust in HSR and urging manufacturers to adopt it more widely. Currently, only 30% of products display HSR, though consumer demand is strong.
