Announces draft additive content warning labeling for popular snack foods

USA

Jun 04, 2025

Senate Bill 25 has been introduced in the Senate and passed unanimously, requiring labeling of products containing more than 44 ingredients, including food dyes, bleached flour and certain oils and preservatives.

Ingredients included in the list include synthetic dyes, titanium dioxide, bleached flour, partially hydrogenated oils, melatonin and various food dyes. The label must state, “This product contains an artificial coloring, chemical or food additive banned in Australia, Canada, the European Union or the United Kingdom.”

The bill is in line with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his “Make America Health Again” initiative, which pushes for more transparency in the food industry.
