CONASA presents new front-of-pack labeling proposal

During the meeting held on May 27, 2024, the Health Promotion Commission of the National Health Council (CONASA in Spanish) has analyzed a new front-of-pack labeling proposal which aims at reducing the burden of diseases associated with obesity by providing clear information to consumers about the nutritional value of food products.
According to the proposal, the new graphic system will have warning messages about the excess of sugar, salt and calories contained in the food.
CONASA has informed that in the coming weeks technical tables will be held to work with the members of the Commission and agree on a roadmap to evaluate and implement the actions for the new front-of-pack labeling system.
