Costa Rica attempts to cover up nutrition labelling

Costa Rica

Apr 24, 2024

On the 24th of April, the Costa Rican Ombudsman stated support for the ruling to eliminate the order to hide front-of-pack nutrition labelling (FOPNL) from imported products.

The Constitutional Chamber of Costa Rica promptly ruled that this circular did not have a solid legal basis and eliminated it. The Ombudsman agreed with this evaluation and added that there is a lack of properly demonstrated motivation.
