MEIC deems unconstitutional the draft law on front nutrition labeling

The Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce (MEIC in Spanish) considers unconstitutional the bill that would establish front labeling on food products and alcoholic beverages, as a nutritional warning mechanism in foods high in fat, sugars, calories, sodium or others.
The main argument of the MEIC is that the initiative is in contrast with regional agreements and is a barrier to trade.
