Amendment to beer production and marketing regulations
Portugal
Feb 14, 2022
The agency responsible for Economy and Digital Transition and Agriculture published Ordinance No. 91/2022 which establishes the characteristics, standards for the production and marketing of beer, adapting the national legislation to European regulations.
As regards labeling, the document defines the legal denomination of beer on the market and stresses that the list of ingredients must also appear on the labeling of beer with an alcoholic strength by volume greater than 1.2%. Therefore, information on the list of ingredients must appear on all prepackaged beers, regardless of their alcoholic strength, throughout their marketing circuit.
