FSSAI amends Alcoholic Beverage Regulations

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) released the Food Safety and Standards (Alcoholic Beverages) First Amendment Regulations, 2025, which will come into effect on January 1, 2026. These regulations include standards for Mead (Honey wine), Craft Beer, Indian liquors, and definitions for Low Alcoholic Beverages/RTD, Wine-based Beverages, and Country Liquors.
The amendments introduce updated definitions, classifications, and specific requirements for various alcoholic beverages, reflecting evolving market trends and product diversity within the Indian alcoholic beverage sector. This regulatory update aims to provide clearer guidelines for manufacturers and ensure product safety and quality standards across the industry.
