New guidelines for the exhaustion of food and beverage labels

The Instituto Nacional de Vigilancia de Medicamentos y Alimentos (INVIMA in Spanish) informs through Resolution No 2025013945 to all interested parties that the guidelines were established for the process of label exhaustion and use of adhesives in food and beverages, within the framework of Resolution 5109 of 2005 and 810 of 2021.
This Resolution introduces important novelties compared to the previous procedure, with the purpose of making the regulation clearer, more efficient and proportional for the users of the sanitary system:
- Exhaustion without prior authorization.
- Authorizations with defined term.
- Individual analysis for cases not contemplated.
It is worth highlighting that neither the cost of the procedure nor the time to study the requests is modified. In this way, it is ensured that the regulatory adjustments do not generate greater burdens for the interested parties.
