SAMR proposes addition of edible period to the labels of low-temperature dairy products

The State Administration for Market Regulation announced the addition of expiration date on the packaging labels of Low temperature short-life dairy products.

The proposal highlights the following key points for consumer awareness:

  • Easy identification of expiration date.

  • Shelf life no longer than 14 days for Pasteurized milk and 30 days for Fermented milk, on the basis of existing production date.

  • The label content should comply with National Food Safety Standard Pre-packaged Product Standards General Rules (GB7718-2011).

  • Label must be eye catching and easy to read.

The draft is open for public comments until July 04, 2021.
