The President of the nation has signed Government Regulation (PP) No. 28 of 2024 as a rule derived from Health Law No. 17 of 2023. One of the important points of PP No. 28 of 2024 is a limitation on the levels of sugar, salt and fat (GGL) in ready-to-eat processed foods and beverages. In Article 194, the government sets limits on the GGL content in ready-to-eat processed foods sold in restaurants, canteens and other catering businesses. These restrictions will be coordinated with the relevant ministers and the government has the authority to set excise taxes on processed foods.

In PP Number 28 of 2024 Article 195 Subsection 1, it is established that persons who produce, import and/or distribute processed foods, including ready-to-eat processed foods, are required to comply with the provisions on maximum limits for sugar, salt and fat. content and include nutrition labels that include sugar, salt and fat content on processed food packaging or on information media for ready-to-eat processed foods.
