France launches a new logo to inform about the origin of food ingredients
France
May 29, 2024
The French Minister of Trade has announced the launch of the voluntary logo "Origin'Info" to inform consumers about the geographical origin of the main agricultural raw materials of food products.
The logo, which 83 companies have already committed to adopt, is composed by a black or dark blue lettering indicating the origin of the three main raw materials of the product. It can be directly attached to the product packaging or provided on electronic labels on shelves, on brands' online shopping sites or via a QR Code.
"Origin'Info" logo will initially be applied on an experimental basis, starting from summer 2024. A review will be carried out in the first half of 2025 to determine whether adjustments are necessary.
