Ministry of Health adopts Nutri-Score front-of-pack labelling system

By Decree No. 3637/2024, the Secretary of State for Health Promotion has implemented the Nutri-Score front-of-pack labeling system as a public health measure to promote healthy eating.
According to the Decree, the Nutri-Score label which is already used in Portugal by several food business operators presents adequate scientific soundness.
The Decree also mandates the Directorate General of Health (DGS) to set the procedure for adopting the FOP labeling system before the end of July. The DGS will also have to define the system's communication campaign and ensure the monitoring and evaluation of its implementation.
