NHC proposes a legislative project on National Food Safety Standards (GB) by 2024

China

Mar 22, 2024

The China National Health Commission (NHC) has issued for public comments a draft of the National Food Safety Standard Legislation Plan for 2024. 34 food standards are listed in the Plan, covering food products, food additives, food nutritional fortifiers, testing, determination methods, as well as food business operations. The Plan is in line with the food safety developments in the last two decades in China following the big melamine and frying oil crises of 2008 and 2010. Since the introduction of the Food Safety Law in 2009, China has been trying to get a grip on its long and complex food chains to ensure a solid level of food safety.
