Ban on partially hydrogenated fats comes into force

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) has announced that, following the publication of the "Harmful Substances in Food (Amendment) Regulation 2021", from December 1, 2023 partially hydrogenated fats are considered prohibited substances in food. Moreover, pursuant to the "Food and Drugs (Composition and Labeling) (Amendment) Regulation 2021" prepackaged foods containing fully hydrogenated fats will now have to declare their presence in the list of ingredients.
