Implementing rules for the use of recycled plastic in single-use plastic beverage bottles

By Implementing Decision (EU) n. 2023/2683 of 30 November 2023, the Commission has laid down the implementing provisions of Directive (EU) n. 2019/904 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the calculation, verification and reporting of data on the recycled plastic content in single-use plastic beverage bottles.
Main contents of the Decision are:
- Definitions.
- Methodology for the calculation of the proportion of recycled plastic content in beverage bottles;
- Methodology for the determination of the weight of the plastic parts of beverage bottles;
- Methodology for the determination of the weight of recycled plastic in beverage bottles;
- Obligation to collect data from economic operators and verification of data;
- Collection and reporting of data by Member States;
- Additional types of recycling.
