Government implements stricter labeling rules for honey blends

Since several years the Hungarian government has been advocating the tightening of European regulations for origin marking of honey blends to protect consumers and beekeepers.
To meet this objective, the Ministry of Agriculture now requires the country of origin to be included on the label of honey blends. It will be mandatory to indicate all countries from which the blend originates, in descending order according to the weight of honey used.
The new regulation will come into force on August 11, with a six months grace period.
