Judge rejects class action against front-pack food labeling

The head of the Federal Contentious Administrative Court Nº3 of the City of Buenos Aires, Santiago Carrillo, rejected a class action filed by the Argentine Chamber of the Industry of Sausages and Allied Products (CAICHA in Spanish) against Law 27.642 on Front Labeling and its Regulatory Decree 151/2022, which describes the requirements on warning seals on critical nutrients in foodstuffs.
The business association had argued that the regulation violated the autonomy of the provinces, provided for in article 121 of the National Constitution, regional Mercosur regulations, as well as the rights of users and consumers.
