The Federal Cabinet approved the draft law submitted by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture on the labeling of food products with the manner of animal husbandry.
The Animal Husbandry Labeling Act creates a legal obligation to label food products of animal origin with the manner in which the animals are kept. It also regulates the related obligations of market participants at different levels, i.e. farmers or those who market the food. Five forms of farming are planned, starting with unprocessed pork. Other forms of processing, distribution channels and animal species will follow.
