Authorities advocate for harmonized food labeling in the EU

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA in Spanish), Luis Planas, has advocated for a harmonized labeling system throughout the European Union, which gives prestige to Community food production, through a truthful and complete information system.
Planas has remarked that labeling is a fundamental tool to provide citizens with accurate and complete food information, so that they can make a discerning choice between different products, but it must be a clearly understandable system, based on scientific consensus.
