Commission rejects gluten information on the labels of all industrialized products

The Commission for Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Services of the Chamber of Deputies rejected a bill (PL 487/19) that establishes that the declarations of "contains gluten" or "does not contain gluten" on the mandatory labels of all industrialized and food products sold in the country. The proposal modifies the Gluten Labeling Law, which currently provides for mandatory registration only in industrialized foods, with the aim of preventing and controlling celiac disease, characterized by intolerance to gluten - protein present in wheat, oats, rye, barley and malt.
