COMMISSION PRESENTS FARM TO FORK-STRATEGY

As part of the EU Green Deal, the European Commission has put forward the ambitions to attain a ‘fair, healthy and environmentally-friendly food system’. The main focus of the plan lies on sustainability with a blueprint to change current agricultural and supply chain practices.

The most concrete action with a direct impact in the food law field, is the  proposition to introduce a harmonised mandatory front-of-pack nutrition labelling scheme. Looking at recent developments, the Nutri Score will be making a good chance to be introduced EU-wide. The Commission will also consider the use of voluntary ‘green’ claims linked to the sustainability of food and agricultural products.
