OTHER DRAFT STANDARDS ISSUED FOR COMMENTS

Amongst other (13 in total), draft of GB 2762 for maximum contaminants limits has been issued.
Compared with previous standards, new lead maximum residues limits have been set:

Lead (for 33 food categories);
-
Cadmium;
-
Mercury;
-
Arscenic;
-
Benzoapyrene;
-
Polychlorinated biphenyls PCBs;
-
Nitrates and nitrites
Draft for GB 29921 has also been issued with some major modifications including:
-
higher limit for pathogenic bacteria in dairy products and special dietary foods;
-
limits for vivors in cooked aqua product and ready to eat seaweed and for S. aureus in ready-to-eat condiments.

a âFood classificationâ appendix has been added, to better guide the interpretation of this standard.
Deadline for submitting comments for both standards is 28 February 2020.
