Mercosur Parliament will evaluate bill on healthy eating
Nov 03, 2019
As part of the World Food Day, the Parliament of Mercosur (Parlasur) received a bill to promote the right to healthy food and food labeling in countries of the South American bloc.
As stated by Parlasur in a statement, the approval of the project, prepared by its President Daniel Caggiani, together with parliamentarians Luis Gallo and Carlos Gomes, would imply the first comprehensive regional food regulation.
According to the statement, the draft standards proposed by Parlasur are subject to the consideration of the Common Market Council of the block.
In turn, the regional parliament will send the reports it prepares in this regard to the national parliaments for their respective evaluation.
