Canada

Aug 26, 2021

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency  developed guidance on existing regulatory requirements related to the use of soy protein isolate or hydrolyzed soy protein in meat products and the manner in which these products are labelled.

This guidance outlines acceptable uses of these ingredients, as well as acceptable labelling, in order to comply with requirements set out in the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations and Part B of the Food and Drug Regulations.

Regulated parties that have meat products containing soy protein isolate or hydrolyzed soy protein and are not consistent with this guidance, will have until February 18, 2022 to implement appropriate and effective corrective action.
