Draft Royal Decree amending and repealing various food regulations

The Ministry of Agriculture has opened the public consultation for the draft royal decree amending and repealing several regulatory provisions on food quality. The legislative revision covers several categories of products such as bread, meat products, vinegars or table olives, among others.

The public consultation period ends on February 12, 2025, inclusive.

 

The main changes:

  • Meat derivatives

The claim of “natural” on the labeling of meat derivatives.

Meat derivatives may incorporate the claim “natural” on the label, provided they comply with certain characteristics.

  • Gluten and bread

It is proposed to include the designation of gluten-free common bread in the “common bread” category and gluten-free special bread in the “special bread” category.

  • Fatty preparations

Establish a more precise designation for “fatty preparations”.

  • Table olives

Establish more precisely the identity of “olives” or “table olives”, stuffed olives, color of olives.
