At the 154th meeting of Argentina's National Food Commission (CONAL) on June 13th of 2024, significant strides were made as five proposals were forwarded for administrative processing to amend the Argentine Food Code (CAA). These proposals, managed by the National Food Institute (INAL), encompass diverse topics such as characterizing flavored tea, incorporating enzymes, updating regulations on farinaceous foods, including capers, and revising regulations on peanuts and derivatives.
Key discussions also highlighted progress on INAL's proposal to amend articles 235 and 1381, focusing on general food labeling and dietary supplements labeling and aiming to integrate Health Property Declarations (HPS) on label for enhanced consumer information. Additionally, plans were set to initiate public consultations for the inclusion of syrups, hydroelectrolyte supplements, additives, edible flowers, and the Butia palm tree in food regulations.
