Egyptian standard for "fermented milks" published

The Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality has announced the Ministerial Decree No. 143/2024 mandating the application of the Egyptian standard ES 8042 for "fermented milks".
The standard, which is technically identical to Codex Standard 243, specifies the essential requirements and descriptive criteria for fermented milks, including fermented milks, heat-treated fermented milks, concentrated fermented milks and complex dairy products, with the exception of labneh, intended for direct consumption or for further process.
According to the Ministerial Decree No. 143/2024, producers and importers are granted a six-month transition period to comply with the Egyptian standard ES 8042.
