Swedish Food Safety Authority modifies labelling requirements for frozen foods

On April 29th, the Swedish Food Safety Authority issued Notice No. 3 of 2024, amending the regulation on the hygiene of frozen foods (Notice No. 12 of 2006). The main content of the revision is the addition of frozen food labeling requirements directly provided to consumers. The following requirements have been added:

- the term "deep-frozen" must be indicated adjacent to the name of the food;

- instruction must be provided on the storage temperature, how long the food can be stored and the type of storage equipment (if applicable);

- information on the batch must be given;

- the text "should not be refrozen after thawing" or equivalent, must be included on the package.
