Published revision of Turkey's Food Codex

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has published the Announcement No 32446, amending the Turkey's Food Codex. The revised regulations will come into effect immediately upon publication, impacting various aspects of the food industry. In particular:

  • Enhanced Transparency and Analysis Methods: one significant aspect of the revised Food Codex is the requirement for the official publication of analysis methods and maximum limits for substances not allowed in food.
  • Restriction on Lemon-Based Products: Effective from December 31, 2024, the revised Food Codex prohibits the sale of products with names such as lemon sauce, lemon jam, lemon juice, or similar variations in the domestic market. This restriction is aimed at addressing specific concerns related to these products and their potential impact on public health and safety.
