New bill on mandatory front-of-pack nutrition labeling

Dec 15, 2023

The new "Transparency, Readability, Understandability, Truth, and Helpfulness (TRUTH) in Labeling Act" has been introduced to the Congress by U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky and U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal.

The bill would direct the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to develop new front-of-pack labels for foods and beverages sold in the United States, requiring a standardized front-of-pack label to help consumers differentiate between foods of greater or lesser nutritional value and provide them with clear information about the foods nutritional content.
