The Senate chamber has resumed the analysis of the project to make the labeling of transgenics more flexible, a bill that would remove the symbol indicating the use of GMOs from food labels.
The bill amends the Biosafety Law (Law 11.105, of 2005) and eliminates the labeling obligation for foods containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in less than 1% of their composition. Those that remain within the standard must contain, prominently, the expression "(name of the product) transgenic" or "contains (name of the ingredient) transgenic".
