New rules for the use of meat terms on plant-based products
Poland
Dec 05, 2023
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MRiRW) has published a draft amendment to the Food Labeling Regulations. The proposed regulation will allow the protection of terms commonly used to describe meat products, and it will ban the use of meat names for plant-based products.
The Ministry of Agriculture has received several requests to introduce legal terms for meat products description, to avoid abuses that could lead to consumer confusion. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the proposed labeling rules will help ensure the protection of consumers' interests, giving them the opportunity to make informed choices about the food products they consume, while protecting the meat products market.
