New foods subject to Sodium and Sugar Reduction Labeling

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) has issued Notice No. 2023-65, revising part of the "Sodium and Sugar Reduction Labeling Standards". With the purpose of promoting the production and distribution of products with reduced sodium and sugar content, the Notice expands the range of products subject to the application of sodium and sugar reduction labeling, in particular:

- nori rice, rice balls, frozen rice and dumplings are added to the list of foods subject to the sodium reduction labeling;

- processed milk (similar to China's mixed milk), fermented milk, concentrated fermented milk are added to the list of foods subject to the sugar reduction labeling.
