EAEU proposes new sanitary requirements for the importation of edible collagen

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) issued Proposal No. 0106182, which proposes to establish sanitary requirements for imports of collagen, gelatin and other products. The import requirements for edible collagen include:
- Processing raw materials should be derived from healthy animals and conducted pre - and post-mortem inspection, animal farms and slaughterhouses should be subject to the supervision of the competent authorities of the exporting country.
- The country of origin of bovine edible collagen is not the endemic area of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, and the bovine raw materials cannot come from the brain, nerves, eyes, spine and other parts of cattle.
