CFIA to modernize food compositional standards
Canada
Jun 28, 2023
From June 23, 2023 to September 22, 2023 the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is consulting on a proposed strategy to modernize food compositional standards.
Over the last several years, the overall environment and marketplace for food in Canada has evolved and become more complex. Food standards help Canadians know what to expect from a food when it is labelled or marketed using a common name (for example, relish, sausage, mayonnaise, etc.). Because compositional standards are written in the Food and Drug Regulations (FDR), any changes would currently require a regulatory amendment.
Contributes to the consultation shall be submitted before September 22, 2023.
