National seal against food waste adopted

The French Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion and the Ministry of Energy Transition have launched the National Seal against food waste. Last Monday, they presented the initiative, which aims to combat food waste. This new tool has been included in Article 33 of the Anti-Waste Law for a Circular Economy, which sets national waste reduction targets of up to 50%.
The French government is committed to improving and promoting practices to ensure a reduced level of food waste among consumers, professionals and the general public. Decree No. 2020-1651 of December 22, 2020 specifies that labeling criteria may be defined by sector, in a reference system approved by decree. The label is awarded by certification bodies approved by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion.
