Pregnancy warning labels on alcoholic beverages

The FSANZ notified Ministers responsible for food regulation of its decision to approve an amendment to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (the Code) to require a pregnancy warning label on packaged alcoholic beverages sold in Australia and New Zealand.

Ministers have 60 days following notification to either request a review or not of the decision to amend the Food Standards Code.  If a review is not requested, the amendment to the Code will be gazetted in Australia and New Zealand and become law. Interested parties will notified of the gazettal via the Notification Circular.
