FDA to allow use of red dye 3 in food

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has clarified that the Red Dye-3 or erythrosine (E127) can be used in foods but is guided by the General Standard for Food Additive. It said the standards (GSFA 2024)/Codex Stan 192-1995), revised in 2024, were approved by the Food and Agriculture Organisation and the World Health Organisation Joint Expert Committee on Food Additive.
