ANVISA amends regulations on food additives and technological adjuvants authorized in food

The National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA in Portuguese) has published Normative Instruction No. 369/2025, which amends Normative Instruction No. 211 of March 1, 2023, establishing the technological functions, maximum limits and conditions of use of food additives and technological adjuvants authorized for use in food.

The main categories of use of additives and processing aids are:

- Edible ice cream

- Candies and sweets

- Confectionery

- Gum and jelly candies

- Chewing gum

- Nougats, marzipan, edible seed paste

- Other non-chocolate candies

- Fillings for bakery and cookie products, confectionery products, desserts, edible ice creams, candies, confectionery, chocolates, chocolates and similar products, and confectionery toppings
