Dec 02, 2024

Rospotrebnadzor headed the Russian interdepartmental delegation to the 47th Session of the FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius Commission. The Commission agreed on the adoption of 38 new Codex texts and food standards prepared in 13 subsidiary committees this year, as well as 24 proposals for new work.

The Russian delegation made several additions and proposals. In particular, they did not support the inclusion of several food additives in the General Standard for Food Additives and the adoption of MRLs for residues of certain types of antibiotics, due to insufficient scientific data and possible adverse effects on the health of consumers.
