Mattilsynet announces revision of food additive regulations

The Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) submits for consultation a proposal to amend Regulation No. 668 of 6 June 2011 on food additives (Food Additives Regulation).
The Food Additives Regulation transposes Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 on food additives and Regulation (EU) No 231/2012 laying down specifications for food additives listed in Annexes II and III of Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 into Norwegian law. See Section 1 of the Food Additives Regulation, first and second paragraphs, respectively.
The Food Additives Regulation also implements Regulation (EU) No. 257/2010 on the implementation of a re-evaluation program for food additives authorized in Norwegian legislation. See section 2 of the Food Additives Regulation. the EU (Amendment) Regulation on natural mineral waters, spring waters and other bottled waters 2025.
