EEC discussed the application of new requirements of technical regulations for food additives

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has held the second seminar to discuss common approaches to the implementation of the new rules of the technical regulation “Safety Requirements for Food Additives, Flavorings and Processing Aids” (TR CU 029/2012), which came into force on February 27 this year.
Due to the fact that the changes in the technical regulation affected up to 70% of its provisions, the Department's management planned to hold a series of explanatory seminars, the first of which took place in April 2024. Taking into account the current development, more than 200 representatives of authorized bodies, industrial business associations and organizations of the Eurasian Economic Union countries have already received the necessary recommendations on the implementation of new requirements.
They discussed, in particular, the possibility of using stevia extracts and food additives for types of food products not specified in the technical regulations, the differences between functional and non-functional food additives, complex food additives and flavorings, and peculiarities of food labeling. products made with the use of complex food additives and sweeteners, enzyme preparations, on conformity assessment characteristics of various objects of the technical regulations, on the transition period and much more.
