Revision of standards for Functional Foods

The Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) proposed partial revision to the “Standards and Specifications for Health Functional Foods” (Notice No. 2023-91) to reflect the results of the re-evaluation of various functional foods.

Major changes include:

  • revisions of specifications and daily intake level for 9 types of functional ingredients including coenzyme Q10;
  • addition of new products based on disintegration characteristics;
  • improvement of manufacturing standards for aloe gel;
  • new conversion coefficient for folic acid and daily intake value
