MFDS Draft update of the Food Additive Code

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) published a draft amendment to the Standards and Specifications for Food Additives (Food Additives Code). Key points are:
- a new definition and standards for sulfites residues for non-alcoholic beverages derived from fruit wines;
- exemption from applying food additive standards to imported raw materials for product manufacturing;
- inclusion of new food additives;
- establishment of ingredient standards and usage standards for vitamin K2 as a nutritional ingredient in functional health foods.
