May 30, 2023

The Environment and Ecology Bureau and Food Safety Centre of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have published draft amendments to the Preservatives in Food Regulations. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government proposes, through legislative amendments, to update the regulatory control of preservatives and antioxidants in food, with a view to improving consumer protection, promoting harmonization of local and international food safety standards and facilitating food trade.
