Blanket ban on CBD products

Czech Republic

May 02, 2023

The Ministry of Agriculture for the Czech Republic announced that CBD and other cannabinoids, both hemp-derived and synthetic, are considered Novel Foods under EU regulations and may not be placed on the market without authorisation.

Under the forthcoming measure, the sale of food and dietary supplements containing CBD and other cannabinoids will be prohibited, as is the case in other EU member states.

According to a press release, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority is set to issue a blanket ban to enforce the regulation, to take effect from June 2023.
